In a rare surgery, doctors at Aster Medcity have successfully resected last part of colon and rectum of a 43-year-old male patient, who was suffering from Klippel Trenaunay’s Syndrome with intractable rectal bleed, using laparoscopy. Klippel Trenaunay’s Syndrome, a rare congenital vascular disorder, is characterised by three clinical syndromes- port-wine stain, varicose veins and bony and soft tissue hypertrophies. The surgery was performed by a medical team led by Dr. Prakash K., Senior Consultant, Aster Medcity Kochi.

മലാശയത്തില്‍ അനിയന്ത്രിതമായ രക്തസ്രാവത്തോടെയുള്ള ക്ലിപ്പെല്‍ ട്രെനോനെയ്‌സ് സിന്‍ഡ്രോം ബാധിച്ച 43 കാരന്റെ വന്‍കുടലിന്റെയും മലാശയത്തിന്റെയും അവസാനഭാഗം ആസ്റ്റര്‍ മെഡ്‌സിറ്റിയിൽ അപൂര്‍വ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയിലൂടെ വിജയകരമായി മുറിച്ചുമാറ്റി (റിസക്ഷന്‍). ലാപ്രോസ്‌കോപ്പി ഉപയോഗിച്ചായിരുന്നു ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ. പോര്‍ട്ട് വൈന്‍ സ്‌റ്റെയിന്‍, വെരിക്കോസ് വെയ്ന്‍, കോശങ്ങളുടെ വളര്‍ച്ച തുടങ്ങി മൂന്ന് ക്ലിനിക്കല്‍ സിന്‍ഡ്രോമുകളാണ് ജന്മനായുള്ള വാസ്‌കുലര്‍ രോഗമായ ക്ലിപ്പെല്‍ ട്രെനോനേയ്‌സ് സിന്‍ഡ്രോമിന്റെ സവിശേഷതകള്‍. ആസ്റ്റര്‍ മെഡ്‌സിറ്റിയിലെ സീനിയര്‍ കണ്‍സള്‍ട്ടന്റ് ഡോ. പ്രകാശിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള മെഡിക്കല്‍ സംഘമാണ് ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടത്തിയത്.
വലത് കാലില്‍ രക്തയോട്ടവും ഓക്‌സിജന്‍ വിതരണവും കുറവായതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് (ആര്‍ട്ടറിയോവെനസ് മാല്‍ഫോര്‍മേഷന്‍- എവിഎം) രോഗി കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് നിരവധി ശസ്ത്രക്രിയകള്‍ക്ക് വിധേയനായിരുന്നു. രോഗിക്ക് കാല്, മലാശയത്തിലെ അസാധാരണമായ വളര്‍ച്ച, മലദ്വാരത്തിനും വൃഷണസഞ്ചിക്കുമിടയിലെ വ്യാപ്തി, സ്പ്ലീന്‍ എന്നിവയെ ബാധിക്കുന്ന ക്ലിപ്പെല്‍ ട്രെനോനേയ്‌സ് സിന്‍ഡ്രോമാണെന്ന് പരിശോധനയില്‍ കണ്ടെത്തി. കഴിഞ്ഞ മൂന്ന്-നാല് വര്‍ഷമായിട്ട് മലവിസര്‍ജനത്തിനിടെ വന്‍തോതില്‍ രക്തം പോവുകയും പ്രതിമാസം മൂന്ന് മുതല്‍ നാല് യൂണിറ്റ് വരെ രക്തസംക്രമം നടത്തേണ്ടിയും വന്നിരുന്നു.
സിടി സ്‌കാനില്‍ രോഗിയുടെ വലത് കാല്, ഗ്ലൂട്ടിയല്‍ മേഖല, മലദ്വാരം എന്നിവയില്‍ ഞെരമ്പ് വീക്കവും എവിഎം-ഉം കണ്ടെത്തി. റേഡിയേഷന്‍ ചികിത്സ സാധ്യമല്ലാത്തതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. വെസല്‍ സീലിങ് ഉപകരണങ്ങള്‍ ഉപയോഗിച്ചാണ് റിസക്ഷന്‍ യാതൊരു മുറിവുകളും ഇല്ലാതെ വിജയകരമായി നടത്തിയത്. ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം രോഗി സുഖംപ്രാപിച്ചു വരികയാണ്.
ക്ലിപ്പെല്‍ ട്രെനോനേയ്‌സ് സിന്‍ഡ്രോം വളരെ അപൂര്‍വമായേ കാണാറുള്ളൂവെന്നും ഇവ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയിലൂടെ വിജയകരമായി സുഖപ്പെടുത്തിയത് 9 കേസുകളില്‍ മാത്രമാണെന്നും മെഡിക്കല്‍ ജേണലുകളെ ഉദ്ധരിച്ച് മെഡിക്കല്‍ സംഘം പറഞ്ഞു. ആസ്റ്റര്‍ മെഡ്‌സിറ്റിയിലെ അത്യാധുനിക മെഡിക്കല്‍ ഉപകരണങ്ങളും സാങ്കേതിക സൗകര്യങ്ങളും വിദഗ്ധരുടെ ലഭ്യതയുമാണ് ഇത്തരമൊരു സങ്കീര്‍ണമായ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ വിജയകരമായി നടത്താന്‍ സഹായകമായതെന്നും ഡോക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.
